In our continuous effort to maintain a friendly, respectful, and inclusive environment on Cat Campus, we occasionally encounter situations that require our attention. This guide outlines standard procedures for managing common scenarios.

1. Off-topic Posts:
  • Description: A user posts content unrelated to the forum or thread topic.
  • Action:
    • Politely remind the user of the topic at hand and suggest appropriate sections for their content.
    • If necessary, move the post to a more suitable section.

    Hello [Username],
We appreciate your contribution to the discussion. However, this particular thread is focused on [Thread Topic]. We'd be grateful if you could share this content in the [Suggested Section] where it would be more relevant. Thanks for understanding!
    Best regards, [Your Moderator Username]

2. Duplicate Posts:
  • Description: A user posts the same content multiple times across various threads.
  • Action:
    • Remove or merge duplicate content.
    • Inform the user of the action and explain the reason for it.

    Hi [Username],
It seems you've posted the same content in multiple threads. To keep our forums organized, we've merged/removed the duplicates. Please let us know if you have any questions!
    Cheers, [Your Moderator Username]

3. Personal Attacks or Harassment:
  • Description: A user is aggressive, derogatory, or mean-spirited towards another.
  • Action:
    • Temporarily hide the offensive content for review.
    • Issue a formal warning to the offending user, outlining the forum's rules and expectations.
    • Notify the forum admin of the incident.

    Dear [Username],
We prioritize maintaining a respectful environment here. Personal attacks or derogatory comments are not in line with our community guidelines. Please refrain from such behavior in the future. Thank you for understanding.
    Regards, [Your Moderator Username]

4. Spam or Promotional Content:
  • Description: A user posts unsolicited advertisements or irrelevant links.
  • Action:
    • Delete the spammy content.
    • Remind the user of the forum's stance on spam and self-promotion.

    Hello [Username],
We noticed your recent post(s) contain promotional content or unsolicited advertisements. As per our forum rules, such content is not allowed. We've removed the said posts. Please ensure future posts align with our community guidelines.
    Thank you, [Your Moderator Username]

5. Inappropriate or Explicit Content:
  • Description: A user shares content that is not suitable for the forum, e.g., graphic images or profanity.
  • Action:
    • Hide or delete the content immediately.
    • Issue a formal warning to the user.
    • Escalate to admins if the user continues to share inappropriate content.
    • If the user is posting extremely inappropriate content, such as gore or pornography, delete the content immediately and escalate to admins for a ban.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information:
  • Description: A user shares their own or another user's personal information, such as an email address, real name, or location.

    • Delete or edit the post to remove the personal details.
    • Remind the user about the importance of online safety and not sharing personal details.

7. Misinformation or Rumors:

  • Action:
    • Edit or remove the misleading content.
    • Politely ask the user to provide sources or clarify their post.
    • If appropriate, provide a correction or direct users to verified information.

8. Feedback on Moderation:
  • Description: A user challenges or questions a moderation decision.
  • Action:
    • Reply respectfully and explain the reasoning behind the decision.
    • Encourage them to voice concerns in the appropriate feedback section or contact the admin for further discussions.

9. Request for Special Permissions:
  • Description: A user asks for exceptions to forum rules or requests special permissions.
  • Action:
    • Direct them to the relevant application process if one exists.
    • Otherwise, escalate the request to the forum admin.

10. User Disputes:
  • Description: Two or more users are in conflict.
  • Action:
    • Address the situation publicly in the thread, reminding all parties to remain respectful.
    • If necessary, move the discussion to a private channel, such as direct messages, to mediate the dispute.

Remember:
  • Always remain polite, respectful, and neutral in your interactions.
  • Transparency is key. When taking action, explain the reason behind it.
  • Consult with fellow moderators if you're unsure about handling a situation.
  • Escalate repeated or serious infractions to the forum admin, since you don't have ban capabilities.

Together, we can maintain a positive and nurturing environment for all Cat Campus users!
